"Cinda" by Janet Lambert

Cinda is one of my favorite books by Janet Lambert. It is the first in a series of five about a girl named Cinda Hollister. In this first book, fourteen year old Cinda sets out to help her third cousin Paula Marsh. Paula is deeply troubled by her mothers plans to re-marry and Cinda tries to persuade her to accept her new stepfather, Frederick Aldrich. As she plots and plans her strategies, she has plenty of time to enjoy beach parties and many good times with her family and friends. By selling a beloved boat and pooling their savings, the young Hollisters manage to buy their father a second-hand cabin cruiser! Paula sees their unselfishness at work and considers opening her mind and heart to those who love her.

  1. I love older books--looks good. I am reading a different group of Hollisters--the Happy Hollisters. Even at 52, I love these children's books.

    1. This is a perfect book for the summer as it takes place at the beach. These books are a little harder to find though and the reprints are a little more than I can afford.

The Happy Hollisters ARE good! Sometimes reading children's books is just what a person needs :)
